Invited by Illinois Institute of Technology and Eastern Kentucky University, led by Vice President Wu Junfeng, Delegation of HUST, 5 persons in total, visited the 2 universities mentioned above from December 16 to December 20, 2013. The visit achieved the expected aim and complete success.
During the visit in Illinois Institute of Technology, Vice President in charge of international affairs Professor Darsh T. Wasan and the Assistant of the Vice President Mary Dawson met with the delegation, expressing warm welcome. Vice President Wu Junfeng introduced the disciplines and majors of HUST as well as the development situation of HUST, especially the situation on Daheng Talents Classes, recruited by School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and School of Automation of HUST this year, and he extended sincere gratitude to Illinois Institute of Technology for the hospitality.
The delegation also visited the laboratory of Illinois Institute of Technology Armour, Students Center, Students’ Canteen, Scientific and Technological Development and Incubator Center; deeply got known about the research development of Robert W. Galvin Power Innovation Center. The delegation also learnt the accommodation, catering and living expenses of the students. The delegation exchanged ideas with the Chinese scholars, visiting scholars and overseas students in Illinois Institute as well.
During the visit in Eastern Kentucky University, the President Benson, Vice President in charge of Academics Janna P. and Former President Eli Capilouto met with the delegation. Vice President Wu Junfeng introduced the disciplines and majors of HUST as well as the development situation of HUST and invited President Benson to visit HUST at his convenience on behalf of the President of HUST Li Dayong. President Benson accepted the invitation with pleasure. The two parties reached broad consensus on teachers exchange, cultivating students together and other issues.
The delegation also visited the laboratory, research room, lecture hall, library, multimedia classroom, stadium, and students’ center and so on.
The other four members of the delegation are Director of the School of Economy Xiu Guoyi, Director of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Li Zhonghua, Director of the School of Computer Science Chen Deyun and Director of Students’ Affairs Office Man Chuntao.
