Greeted warmly, the freshmen begin their brilliant new journey to the next destination: Harbin University of Science and Technology. On August 30th, the first day of registration for the 2024 freshman intake, students from different regions of the country arrived as scheduled, filling every corner of the campus with vitality, smiles, and anticipation. The freshmen are set to embark on an exclusive City Walk in HUST. Welcome activities for the new students were carried out in an orderly manner across all campuses, with each school providing a variety of activities tailored to their educational characteristics, fully showcasing their educational achievements. Warm and heartfelt slogans, creatively designed welcome boards, and enthusiastic volunteers offering directions and answering questions could be seen everywhere on campus. The 2024 HUST Kids are embarking on a new journey, bathed in love and sunshine.
At 9 a.m., leaders including Secretary of the University Party Committee Zhao Lin, President Liu Xia, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and Chairman of the Union Guo Jiali, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee Zhao Shuishan, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee Sun Shuhai, and Vice Presidents Zang Yongjun, Yang Zhongxue, and Du Jun, accompanied by heads of functional departments, visited welcome stations of all schools, green channels for freshmen, service stations for ethnic minority students, College Student Recruitment Propaganda Station for Military Service, welcome station for student associations, freshman dormitories, and other locations to greet the arriving 2024 freshmen and their accompanying family members and friends. They also expressed their appreciation to the faculty, staff, and students involved in the welcome work.
“Welcome to Harbin University of Science and Technology!” “What’s your major?” “Are you accustomed to the food and weather here?” “how are you feeling at the start of the new semester?” “You must be tired from your journey and make sure to rest well once you settle in!” ... University leaders visited the welcome site and freshman dormitories, asking for the freshmen’s first impressions of HUST and their future plans. They also expressed concern for the parents and relatives who had accompanied the freshmen. They encouraged 2024 intake of HUST students to cherish their youth, solidify their professional foundations, and embark on a wonderful life journey.
The most beautiful sight is not a rainy day, but the first encounter between HUST and its freshmen. The sudden downpour did not dampen the enthusiasm for welcoming the new students. Instead, it brought boundless love. University leaders distributed love packages to representatives of economically disadvantaged students, held umbrellas for the freshmen while volunteers helped carry luggage in the rain... The welcome scene was filled with the warmth of our teachers and students everywhere.
To guarantee the orderly execution of all welcome activities, the university meticulously planned and deployed arrangements in advance, thoroughly reviewing and refining them numerous times. Special meetings were held to formulate and refine the registration plan for the 2024 freshman intake, ensuring that all support measures were fully implemented. During the welcome period, responsible persons from various functional departments and schools, teachers and students, reporters from the new media center worked in unity and close cooperation to ensure the smooth and efficient progress of the welcome work. As of 17:00 on the 30th, August, 5,724 out of the 6,918 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students expected to register at the university’s main campus had done so, with a registration rate of 82.74%. Among them, 4,185 students registered in the West Campus and 1,539 in the South Campus. Rongcheng School had 1,417 out of the 1,630 expected students registered, with a registration rate of 86.93%.
“Mountains and rivers lie at my feet, and countless books forge a new chapter”. The freshmen 2024 intake of HUST will surely step into new life with high spirits, embrace the ocean of knowledge with enthusiasm, and jointly write a new glorious chapter in future education at HUST.
