Recently,the Publicity Department of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, the Education Work Committee of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, and the Department of Education of Heilongjiang Province jointly issued a document announcing the list of the third batch of keySchools of Marxism in the province, and School of Marxism of our university was successfully selected.

School of Marxism is the main platform for studying, researching and publicizing Marxism, and ideological and political theory courses are the main channel for School of Marxism to use the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for aNew Era to forge inner strength and inspire people. Strengthening the construction of School of Marxism is an important measure to deepen the research and construction of Marxism,and isan inherent requirement to foster a new generation of young people who are responsible for the great rejuvenation of the nation. It is significant to manifest the socialist feature of Chinese universities, guide young students to firmly establish the lofty ideals of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and cultivate generations of socialist builders and successors.

The Party Committee of the university has always attached great importance to the construction of the School of Marxism, and the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the university has conducted multiplethemed educationto solve the problems of the construction and development of the School of Marxism, and constructed a leadership system and working mechanism with unified leadership of the Party Committee, joint management of the Party and the government, the relevant departments taking responsibility for their own duties, the School of Marxism implementing specific tasks, and the wholeuniversityproviding strong support. Political and ideological course has been constructed as a key course, the discipline of Marxism theory as a key discipline, and the School of Marxism as a key college. Strong support has been giventothe development of the discipline, the reform of the curriculum, the introduction of talents and other aspects. The construction of the School of Marxism has shown a new atmosphere, and the development of the college has entered a new stage of connotative and high-quality development.

The School of Marxism closely focuses on the fundamental question of“what kind of people to cultivate, how to cultivate, and for whom to cultivate”. Adhering to the educational philosophy of“building the school by politics, developing it with talents, strengthening the school by scientific research, and establishing the school by teaching”, and insists on the distinct political orientation of“the School of Marxism belonging to Marxism,speaking Marxism”,holds high the banner, and firmly follows the path. It is important to fully implement the fundamental task of establishing moral education, give full play to the role of ideological and political theory coursesasthe main channel, and cultivate qualified builders and reliable successors for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Teachers of ideological and political course have won many awards in provincial teaching competitions, winning 2 first prizes and 5 second prizes. Students have won two second prizes and one third prize at the national level in the National Challenge Cup Competition, making a historic breakthrough.

Relying on the advantages of disciplines and specialties, the school has contributed to the construction of the overall ideological and political education in our university. The school has set up a delegation for the study and education of Party history,a delegation for thepromotion ofspirit of Xi Jinping’s“July 1”speech, a delegation for thepromotion ofthe spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee, and a delegation for thepromotion ofspirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, and has extensively carried out nearly 100 lectures on campus and off campus. Relying on Wechat and other new media platforms,the schoolhave widely publicized the latest theoretical achievements of Marxism in China. In just over two years since its establishment, the School of Marxism official WeChat has published 377 articles, with a total reading of more than 122,000 times. It has always ranked at the top of the weekly influence rankings of Schools of Marxism in Heilongjiang Province. One person was awarded the title of Outstanding Individual in Party Affairs of Provincial Colleges and Universities, two persons were awarded the title of Outstanding Individual in Teachers’Morality of Provincial Colleges and Universities, two branch secretaries participated in the Quality Ability Competition of Branch Secretaries of Provincial Colleges and Universities and were awarded the third prize. One party branch was selected as the workshop of the party branch secretary of the university’s“double leaders”teachers and one branch was selected as the first“model branch”cultivating and creating unit of the party building work. One branch was selected as the first batch of party building work“model branch”cultivation and creation unit.

The approval of the construction unit of the key School of Marxism in the province marks that the development of the School of Marxism has entered a new stage. The School of Marxism will take this opportunity to adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping ThoughtonSocialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, deeply implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, strictly comply with the requirements of the“Higher School of Marxism Construction Standard (2023 Edition)”and the“Heilongjiang Key School of Marxism Construction Standard”and other documents. Focusing on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, further align the direction and polish the distinctive feature of the guiding status of Marxism, develop a new pattern of disciplinary construction with scientific orientation, make new breakthroughs in the construction of first-rate courses through reform and innovation, broaden its horizons to create a new system of practical education for the ideological and political course, and develop the Civics and Politics course teacher team in a new status. It will promote discipline construction, scientific research, talent cultivation, theoretical publicity, social services, and other aspects. It will strive to build a strong position for teaching, research and publicity of Marxist theory and a demonstrative and leading School of Marxism, so as to contribute to the construction of a first-class university of science and technology with distinctive features in China.
