On the evening of June 16th, the Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra held a special concert at the sports center of Harbin University of Science and Technology. The artists of the symphony orchestra delivered an elegant artistic feast to the faculty and students with exquisite singing, passionate performances, and a high professional standard. Zhao Lin, the Secretary of the University Party Committee, PresidentLiu Xia, Vice Secretaries of the Party CommitteeGuo Jiali and Zhao Shuishan, Vice PresidentsZang Yongjun and Lin Yi, and more than 3500 faculty and students attended the concert.
“Bringing Elegant Art to Campus”is a major initiative implemented by the Central Committee and the State Council to cultivate students’aesthetic taste and artistic accomplishment. The project is jointlyheldby the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry of Finance, with the Provincial Department of Education as the organizer. It aims to leverage the important role of art education in promoting the overall quality of national education, guiding young students to form correct aesthetic concepts, enhancing cultural awareness, and building cultural confidence, which exactlyaligns with the principles upheld by our university's 28th Student Cultural and Arts Festival. Before the performance, Zhao Shuishan, the Vice Secretary of the Party Committee, had a friendly exchange with representatives from the Central Conservatory of Music, expressing sincere thanks to all the performers for coming to our university. The concert was personally conducted by Chen Bing, professor from the Conducting Department of the Central Conservatory of Music and the Secretary of the Party Branch of the Vocal Music Department. He introduced the different instrumental sections of the symphony orchestra and provided insights into the background and emotional content of the musical pieces, enhancing the understanding of symphonic music among the faculty and students.
The powerful and majestic classical piece“Ode to Joy”the profound and solemn“Symphony No. 2 in D Major”and the lively and passionate opera“Carmen”created a joyful and relaxed atmosphere at the concert. The beautiful and touching melodies of“Moonlight Ode”the expression of longing in“Tonight There is No Sleep”the duet of the protagonist's sincere emotions and praise in“Drinking Song”and the elegant and sentimental“Violin Concerto in E Minor”showcased the characteristics of Western symphonic music and the beauty of opera. The Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra also performed a special piece,“Castle in the Sky”exclusively prepared for the faculty and students of our university, bringing the atmosphere to a climax. As the concert reached its conclusion, the tenor Professor Xu Chang and the soprano Teacher Yuan Chenxing sang“Me andMy Motherland”their melodious voices resonating with the audience, leading to a collective chorus and a fulfilling conclusion to the concert. In recent years, the University Party Committee has responded to thestate callfor art education, fully leveraging the positive effects of art education in enhancing the comprehensive quality, aesthetic ability, moral level, and psychological health of students. In the future, the university will continueits effort inbuilding thesecond class, enrich thestudents’spiritual worldwith art, use aesthetic education to aid in growth, and guide our students to become idealistic, courageous, resilient, and hardworking young peopleinthe new era.
