In order to encourage public respect for teachers and public support for education, as well as to honor the spiritofeducatorswho selflessly devote themselves to fostering virtue through education, the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province organized the selection of outstandinggroupsand individuals in terms of professional ethics for the year 2023. This year, a total of 66outstanding groupsand 178 outstanding individuals in terms of professional ethics were recognized across the province. The School of MaterialScienceandChemicalEngineering of our university was awarded the honorary title of “2023 ProvincialOutstanding Groupsin Professional Ethics,”andprofessor Yue Caixu from the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering was honored with the title of “2023 ProvincialOutstandingIndividual in Professional Ethics.”
The School ofMaterialScienceandChemicalEngineeringhas cultivated a dedicated and responsible faculty byinnovatingmechanisms, enhancing theoretical learning, and engaging in diverse practical activities. Through such methods aspublicizing role modelsand reinforcing ethical assessments, the school has established a loyal and committed teaching team. A leadership group for ethical development was established within the school, focusing on refining regulations and systems related to ethical construction. The school issued the“ImplementationGuidelineon Ethical Construction in the School of MaterialScience and Engineering,”integrating ethical construction into every aspect of educational and managerial processes.A comprehensive and integrated mechanism for education, publicity, evaluation, incentives, supervision, and penalties has been established, ensuring a closed-loop management system. Theyhavedeveloped a community for ethical construction that interconnects various aspects within the institution.The faculty members lead by example, embodying a sense of responsibility towards the nation and instilling in students a genuine sense of patriotism through their actions, firmly establishing the spirit of serving the country through science and technology.

In recent years, Harbin University of Science and Technology has consistently placed the fostering of professional ethics and conduct of teachers at the forefront of faculty development. It earnestly implements General Secretary Xi Jinping’s philosophy on educational and professional ethics, and carries out the fundamental task of nurturing individuals with moral integrity. Efforts have been made to advance training in professional ethics, establish role models of ethical conduct in teaching, and promote a concentrated study on professional ethics. The school initiated the“Cultivate Professional Ethics, Foster Exemplary Teaching Practices, and Stimulate Development”lecture series,continuously guiding the vast body of educators to stay steadfast in their initial aspirations and missions, striving to become a qualified teacher with firm ideals and beliefs, moral sentiments, solid knowledge and benevolence.This effort aims to foster throughout the entire school an admirable ethos centered on nurturing individuals with moral integrity, showing dedication to their work, being enterprising and progressive, and selflessly contributing.
