Successful Hosting of the 2024 Graduates Large-Scale Job Fair at HUST

In adherence to the central and provincial directives on enhancing employment for university graduates, and seizing the golden period of autumn recruitment, HUST successfully organized the“Heilongjiang Province Engineering Graduates Specialized Job Fair and 2024 Graduates Large-Scale Job Fair (Autumn)”on October 18, held at the West Campus Gymnasium. The event, jointly hosted by the Education Department of HeilongjiangProvince, the Heilongjiang University Students Employment and Entrepreneurship Service Guidance Center, and received collaboration from various engineering and technical universities within the province..
The fair featured the participation of 243 employers from 21 provinces (autonomous regions and direct-administered municipalities), offering a total of 18,059 job positions. Six municipal human resources departments from cities such as Xiamen, Dongguan, Huizhou, and Zhangjiagang attended the fair in recruitment groups. Approximately 70% of the participating employers were from the equipment manufacturing industry, with additional representation from the information transmission, software and information technology services, and power, heat, gas, and water production and supply sectors. All participating employers primarily sought graduates with engineering backgrounds at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. The fair included a special zone to encourage graduates to seek employment and entrepreneurial opportunities within the province. The event attracted over 12,700 students from both on and off-campus, with 10,479 resumes submitted.
The fair aimed to facilitate direct communication between employers and graduates, promoting high-quality and comprehensive employment opportunities. Party Secretaryof HUST, Zhao Lin, and Vice Party Secretary, Zhao Shuishan, personally immersed themselves in the event, engaging in friendly discussions with employers and graduates. They also visited the college officials, faculty, and student support staff present at the job fair venue. Zhao Lin gained a comprehensive understanding of the employers’profiles, their staffing needs, and their opinions and suggestions regarding theHUST’s talent cultivation efforts. Expressing gratitude for the long-term recognition of theHUST’s graduates and the support for their employment, Zhao Lin diligently inquired about the career intentions and job preparation of the attending students. Emphasizing the need for students to objectively assess their personal conditions and societal demands, she encouraged them to develop a proper perspective on employment and career choices. Zhao Lin stressed the importance of graduate employment status as a reflection of a university’s academic quality, capacity, and alignment with economic and social development. She underscored the crucial role of talent cultivation in promoting high-quality student employment and advocated for continuous improvement of mechanisms for comprehensive employment promotion. This includes refining the employment service system for graduates, strengthening the linkage between employment and feedback, aligning with societal needs, highlighting industry characteristics, persistently advancing structural reforms on the supply side, and facilitating more graduates to secure positions in high-quality enterprises within their respective industries. These efforts aim to contribute to the development of the nation's modern equipment manufacturing industry and the comprehensive revitalization of Heilongjiang by nurturing a greater number of outstanding talents.
Eachdepartment’s secretary, dean, vice secretary of the party committee, academic department heads, employment officers, and senior class advisors actively immersed themselves in the job fair. They proactively connected with employers, gained insights into industry market demands, accurately recommended graduating students, and invited employers to conduct specialized presentations. Discussions were initiated with some companies regarding in-depth cooperation in the areas of production, education, and research.The employment department meticulously prepared for the job fair, with collaborative efforts from departments such as the publicity department, the Youth League Committee, the academic affairs office, the graduate affairs office, the state-owned assets management office, the security office, the logistics management office, the network information center, and theHarbin University of Science and Technology National Science Park.At the fair, an employment service station was set up, offering functions like interpreting employment policies, diagnosing resumes, arranging interviews, printing agreements, conducting contract reviews, and providing medical services. Additionally, stations for military enlistment consultations and the“Pomegranate Seed”studio service area were established. More than 120 student volunteers, adorned in red vests, were present at the job fair, representing both the University’s Youth Volunteer Association and various academic departments. They ensured the completion of designated tasks, offering warm-hearted assistance to employers and graduating students. The job fair venue buzzed with activity, maintaining a well-organized and orderly atmosphere.
According to reports, since the launch of the autumn campus recruitment for the Class of 2024 graduates,HUSThas been consistently organizing“selectedand excellent”campus recruitment activities with industry characteristics. A total of 331 recruitment seminars and 17 large-scale job fairs have been conducted, involving over 1200 employers participating in recruitment activities on campus. In the next phase, the school will continue to strengthen ties and mutual visits with local labor and social security departments and high-quality enterprises in various industries.
