According to the requirements of a circular on 2022 “Promoting Rural Revitalization” Undergraduate, Junior, and Technical Secondary School Students’ Summer Social Practice Activities of Volunteer Service, Department of Language Application and Administration of Ministry of Education(MOE) invited experts to review the application materials of the teams from various colleges and technical secondary schools. 958 teams were selected to participate in the national summer social practice activities in 2022. Among them, the postgraduate volunteer team of HUST was selected.
The purposes of this activity are to fully implement the observations and instructions issued by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, on education and on standard spoken and written Chinese language, to study the remarks delivered by General Secretary Xi at the Ceremony Marking the Centenary of the Communist Youth League of China, to implement National Standard Spoken and Written Chinese Language Promotion Program and the Implementation Plan for Facilitating Rural Revitalization released by MOE, National Rural Revitalization Administration and National Language Commission, to further promote the use of standard Chinese in ethnic minority areas and rural areas, to foster a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, and to facilitate the implementation of rural revitalization strategy.
The team of HUST will fully implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s observations and remarks on education of standard Chinese language, promote the school motto of “Matching Actions to Words, Being a Forward-looking Polymath”, facilitate the promotion of standard Chinese language, contribute to fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, help implement rural revitalization strategy, and work on the frontlines of rural revitalization. During the social practice, the team will identify the needs of the area, learn about the local culture, industrial structure and cultural level of the farmers, get a clear sense of the situations concerning the promotion of standard spoken and written Chinese in the areas. Meanwhile, various events will be organized, including “standard Chinese plus tourism with local features”, and “standard Chinese plus cultural tour of the countryside”. These events will help boost the local economy, create a flourishing culture, and strengthen the education of standard Chinese. In order to introduce students to the charm of art education, aesthetic training activities such as language education in calligraphy class will also be organized.
Participating in cultural activities and other activities to spread understanding of science and technology and information on health in the countryside, the teams of HUST will stay true to its original aspiration and founding mission, strive to be patriotic young people with "collective identity" in mind, measure the motherland with their feet, discover the Chinese spirit with their eyes, listen to the voice of the people with their ears, and sense the pulse of the times with their hearts. Their feelings for the motherland and shared destiny with the people should run through the whole process of their studies and be integrated in their career pursuit. They will strive to develop themselves into a generation capable of shouldering the mission of national rejuvenation, and set the stage for the Party's 20th National Congress with concrete actions.
