Recently, the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education announced the 2019 Award of “Scholarship for Outstanding International Students of the Chinese Government”. Shabas (English name: MUHAMMAD SHAHBAZ, tutor: Professor Gao Changyuan), a Pakistan-based doctoral student majoring in Management Science and Engineering in the School of Economics and Management, was awarded the scholarship. This is the first time for international students in HUST to receive this honor.

“Scholarship for Outstanding International Students of the Chinese Government” is designed to extend the influence of Chinese government scholarship, awarding excellent international students who understand Chinese culture. The scholarhip is regarded as the the highest honor for foreign students from Chinese government. A total of 582 students from 127 universities and colleges have been awarded the 2019 “Scholarship for Outstanding International Students of the Chinese Government”. Dr. Shabas, a foreign student in HUST, makes great effort in research. With excellent academic performance, he finally won the award.

The award of Shabas sets a positive example for other international students in HUST, and also reflects the achievements of international students’ education and the improvement of international education of HUST. The university will take this opportunity to further improve teaching quality, strive to cultivate more high-level international talents, serving the national Silk Road Economic Belt, and add glory to the “double first-class” construction of the university.
