Students of Russian Major Achieved Good Results in the First Russian Competition Held in Heilongjiang Province

From October 13 to 14, the first Russian Competition in universities in Heilongjiang province, together with Harbin International Science and Technology Exhibition Fair (HISTEF), was held inHeilongjiang International University. HUST contestants got excellent results under the guidance, coach and support from the teachers of the Russian Major. Li Siqi and Chen Xiaotong of Grade 2015 won respectively the first and second prizes in the senior grade group, Wang Ting of Grade 2017 got the third prize in the junior grade group for the fourth place, and Song Wenqi, a graduate student of Grade 2018, won the first prize in the talent show competition.

As an important activity of the 7th HISTEF, the competition, sponsored by Harbin Science and Technology Bureau, was co-organized by Harbin Normal University and Heilongjiang International University, and supported by Division of Higher Education of Education Department of Heilongjiang Province, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Steering Committee for Education of Heilongjiang Institution of Higher Education. The purpose of the competition is to show the language learners’ training in cooperation of science and technology between Heilongjiang Province and Russia, to provide a docking platform for the employment of Russian majors in our province, and to prelude the national Russian competition in colleges and universities. Through extensive recruitments, all the colleges and universities with Russian major in the province took part in the competition. 2-4 contestants were selected from each college or university in accordance to the scale and level of the college or university. Nearly 60 outstanding contestants joined and competed in the competition. Based on the contents and the forms of the national Russian contest in colleges and universities, the contest, on the basis of the characteristics of the 7th HISTEF, integrated some elements of scientific and technological innovation with local characteristics. The competition is made up of three rounds: the preliminary, the semi-final and the final. Taking advantage of the opportunity of local cooperation and exchange between China and Russia, the event aims to set up a platform for students majoring in Russian in Heilongjiang Province to display the charm of the language, in order to further enrich the orientation and expand the impact of HISTEF.

In the competition, HUST contestants showed great professional knowledge, stable psychological quality, great talents and standard pronunciation, all of which impressed the judges and the audience. The competition itself will surely play a positive role in the promotion of the prestige of Russian Department in Heilongjiang province.

This competition has demonstrated the students’ practical abilities and the achievements of the teachers and the students. Through this contest, the students’ comprehensive abilities and professional accomplishments have been greatly improved, their innovative thinking broadened, and their teamwork spirit cultivated. Through hard work, the students will definitely improve their practical abilities greatly
