On March 25th, the Spring “Employer-Employee, Two-Way Choice” Job Fair for graduates of 2018 was successfully held at the sports complex of HUST. 272 companies from all over the country came to HUST to recruit employees, and morethan 4,000 graduates (including juniors) were present at the fair to hunt jobs. President Li Dayong and Wang Zhihao visited the fair. During the visit, President Li talked with the company leaders by giving instructions about the holding of the fair and employment-related matters. Communication was established between companies and relevant university leaders, deans of schools, secretaries and vice secretaries of schools, instructors of graduates and teachers. Direct contact was initiated and graduates of relevant schools were instructed and recommended.

The companies at the job fair are industry representatives whose positions provided to the graduates are closely related to the majors that HUST offers. Among the 272 companies, 138 are from Heilongjiang Province, and 134 from other provinces. 38 large and medium-sized state-owned enterprises, 18 China’s top 500 companies, and 75 high and new technology companies participated in the job fair. These companies offered over 3,700 job positions to graduates. During the preparations for the fair, Wang Zhihao, Secretary of CPC HUST and Secretary of CPC HUST Commission for Discipline Inspection, listened to reports from the Admission and Employment Office and gave detailed instructions. In order to ensure safe and orderly operation of the fair, substantial support was given by different sectors including University Office, Publicity Department, Logistics Department, Security Office, Asset Operation Center(Sports Stadium), Youth League Committee of HUST. Personnel from Admission and Employment Office sorted out companies by regions and by the needs of graduates. Qualified companies were contacted and finally the list of companies that would participate in the fair was put together. Motivated by schools, graduates of 2018 attached great importance to the job fair, and tried their best to find opportunities to recommend themselves by communicating actively with companies.

Up to now, HUST has held 717 on-campus job fairs for its 2018 graduates. Among these job fairs, two are large-scale ones, 20 are medium-sized, and 695 are dedicated for particular companies. There are altogether 1,985 companies coming to HUST to have on-campus recruitments, offering some 30,000 job positions. The university website has published more than 3,000 recruitment articles.
