January 9 saw the safety inspection of the university carried out by school leaders, including Zhao Guogang, Secretary of CPC HUST, and Man Chuntao, Vice President of HUST, accompanied by Liu Xia, Director of the School Office, Yu Zhigang, Director of Security, An Wenbin, Director of Logistics Management, and Yang Zhongxue, Director of Students Office.

In No. 8 Student Dormitory, school leaders talked with dormitory staff and with students who stayed at school during the winter vacation. The leaders also checked security and sanitation of No. 1 Canteen on the West Campus. They inquired about the food supply during the vocation and demanded high quality of the food. When visiting the sports venue, great attention was paid to the facility condition and maintenance. Emphasis was put on safety management and smooth operation of the site. During their visit to the Security Office on the South Campus, the school leaders talked with the personnel on duty and requested them to increase their awareness of security. Another visit was made to the laboratories of school of materials, and the School of Chemical Technology. The leaders emphasized the importance of safety during the holiday. Zhao Guogang , Secretary of CPC HUST, encouraged teachers and students working on scientific research to combine theory with practice and exert their best efforts to make scientific breakthrough. Visit was also paid to the boiler rooms on the East, South and West Campuses, where they inquired of the coal storage and heating condition and gave recognition to the efforts the workers had made.

During the visits, Zhao Guogang, Secretary of CPC HUST, emphasized that safety was the top priority and should never be taken lightly. All departments of the university should always remember their tasks and work with determined faith. In order to protect the personal safety and financial security of faculty members, rules and regulations should be made and responsibility should be fully delegated. In this way, a secure school environment would be fostered and a peaceful, harmonious, and stable Spring Festival holiday would be ensured.
