On Dec.16, 2010, the launching ceremony ofCAJIF(China Academic Journals’ Impact factor)AnnalsDatabase was held inChina Hall of Science and Technology, Beijing. On behalf of HUST’sDepartment of Editorial Work, Yu Zhilong, the editors’ office director ofElectric Machines and Control,attended the ceremony.
Impact factor, or IF, is a measure of the citations to papers in academic journals, which can best show the quality and influence of an academic journal as well as an editorial group’s ability to run journals. In China, reports are published every year on the annual IF indexes of all Chinese academic journals. According to the report of 2010 publicized on this ceremony, all IF indexes of the four HUST’s academic journals have risen a lot during the last year (see Table I below), which shows a great enhancement of HUST’s journal running capacity.
Thanks to the rising of IF indexes, thefour journals’ integrated ranks ofall China Academic Journals(CAJs)in their own disciplines are improved as well(see Table II below).It is the first time in China to establishdatabase for CAJIF Annalsstatistics, and thedatabase released is to be in an ever-going series later.The Science Bibliometrics Evaluation Research Center of China andTsinghua University Librarydevelopedthe databasejointly.
