Invited by Harbin University of Science and Technology, Professor Hendrik De Jager, executive dean of the Faculty of Engineering,Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa paid a 4-day friendly visit to HUST from Oct. 16 to Oct. 19.
Representing HUST, Party Secretary Gao Jun and Vice President Zhao Hong received and hosted a banquet for professor Hendrik De Jager, when Party Secretary Gao Jun welcomed and made a brief introduction to the history and development of HUST, expressing hopes for better cooperation in scientific research, students and teachers exchange as well as cultivating high level professionals on the basis of mutual benefit.
Vice President Zhao Hong, representing HUST, exchanged ideas with Professor Hendrik De Jager on the possibility of international cooperation.
Professor Hendrik De Jager expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and made an introduction toNelson Mandela Metropolitan University, saying he’s looking forward to a better cooperation and the visiting of HUST to South Africa.
During the visit, Professor Hendrik De Jager went around to part of the labs in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Mechanical and Power Engineering and School of Material Science and Engineering, conducting academic exchanges with some of the school leaders, teachers and students. Accompanied also by Li Zhonghua, Dean of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Xu Xiangchen, head of the Department of Students Enrollment and Employment, Xi Zhaohui, head of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange and Wang Zhengnan, from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange.
