On October 22, President Li Dayong met with Director Wei Dong and his party who came from Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute. Vice President Zhao Hong, Li Zhonghua, Dean from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Director Zhang Xiaohong from Science and Technology Department, Director Man Chuntao from Students’ Affairs Office, Director Chen Hongbin from Alumni Association, and Vice Party Secretary Feng Wanli from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering attended the meeting.

President Li Dayong expressed his warm welcome to Director Wei Dong and his party and introduced general situation of HUST’s development.

Director Wei Dong gave an introduction about developing situation of Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute and developing orientations of cable industry. Two parties have reviewed the historical development and current situation of HUST’s cable major, exchanged thoughts on students training, scientific research, and other aspects, arriving at cooperation agreements.

Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute was established in 1957, which is the only research institution combining wire and cable research and development with engineering design, testing, information exhibition service, and work of industry. Director Wei Dong is HUST’s outstanding graduate (studied in electrical insulating material in 1979), professor of senior engineering, expert enjoying special allowance of the State Council, ranking among the first excellent talents in Shanghai and leading talents of science and technology in Shanghai.
