Recently the result of 2012 self-improvement star of Chinese college students was published. This activity was hosted by the central committee of China Communist Youth League and the National Union of students, organized by Chinese Youth Daily and Chinese University Media Union. Geng Jiajie, who studies in Rong Cheng College in Harbin University of Science and Technology was awarded the Self-improvement Star of Chinese College Students in the year of 2012 and won RMB5000 for the New Oriental Self-improvement Scholarship for Chinese Students. In the meanwhile, He Bin, who studies in School of Automation in Harbin University of Science and Technology won the nomination award of Chinese College Students Self-improvement Star and New Oriental Self-improvement Scholarship RMB 2000.
Geng Jiajie was born in a normal family. He lives simply but studies diligently. He was disabled from birth, but he can live independently by his amazing perseverance and his desire for beautiful life. In 2010, he was admitted to Rong Cheng School in Harbin University of Science and Technology and he majored in art design. During his study in the university, he was elected league secretary in his class due to his excellent ability. He led his classmates to participate diverse activities positively in the university. He respects teachers and is willing to help others. He works hard and won the national scholarship for several times. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in November 2012. Upon graduation, he was employed in a real estate corporation in Wei Hai city. Geng Jiajie set a good example for all the students in our university.
He Bin once won diverse scholarship 10 times and participated in 4 scientific projects. He won 2 international awards, 4 national awards, 2 provincial awards and 16 university awards in all kinds of competitions. He was keen to public welfare undertakings and won the Outstanding Youth Volunteer award for the 6thInternational Forum on Strategic Technololgy. He was named 2012 Heilongjiang Province College Student of the Year on September 6th, 2013.
