The Ministry of Science published a notice on the List of 2013 Advanced Unit and Individuals about National Science and Technological Progress Assessment on Sep 15, 2013. The city of Rongcheng was rewarded as advanced unit, and Yu Yandong, the branch secretary of our Technology Park, got the honor of advanced individual.

Yu Yandong takes the temporary post as a deputy mayor in Rongcheng in charge of the work of science and technology from sep, 2012. From then on, the technology in Rongcheng has achieved remarkable results in the aspects of optimizing the environment of science and technology innovation, promoting production-study-research cooperation, building service platform of science and technology, and scientific research project declaration. He successfully hosted the fifth Week of Science and Technology, found the first county-level business incubator in Weihai, achieved 30 hatching projects, formed the technology innovation strategic alliance of seaweed industry, contributed to the technology innovation strategic alliance of sea cucumber industry into the national pilot sequences. He organized and implemented five national science and technology plan projects, 11 provincial technical transformation projects, 34 provincial technological innovation projects. And he set up 5 new high-tech enterprises, created 3 research & development platforms at or above provincial level. During this period, the city’s invention patent grant increased at 31.3%, and the proportion of high-tech industries reached at 32.1%. He launched the activities of Technology Mayor Group in Shandong Province for the first time, and hired 6 members working for the team, which introduced more than 20 local cooperation projects. Since he took the temporary post, Yu Yandong has paid attention to give full play to university and his own advantages, actively provided intellectual support for the the city’s development of science and technology. He plays a positive role in deepening the cooperation between university and local area, serving regional development and enforcing project matching.

National Science and Technological Progress Assessment are organized and implemented by the Ministry of Science, and examines once every two years.
