On October 16^th, the 2^ndJingbo Cup National Polymer Material Contest (PMC) came to a successful ending in Qingdao International Exhibition Center of 2014 China (Qingdao) Rubber Industrial Exhibition Center. This competition was co-organized by National Petroleum and Chemistry Industrial Association, National Chemical Industry Education Association, Qingdao Science and Technology Office, Rubber Valley Limited Company, and sponsored by Qingdao Rubber Valley Productive Force Promotion Center Limited Company. The 2^ndPMC was themed “Innovation and Entrepreneurship—China New Chemical Materials”, which attracted 130 universities (including Zhejiang University, Sichuan University, South China University of Technology, Beijing University of Chemical Technology) from 25 provinces and Voronezhskaya University from Russia to participate in the event. There were altogether 432 entries, 71 of which won out through the first round and expert review. After the semi-final and final, 1 team won the special prize, 6 teams won the first prize, 13 teams won the second prize, 49 teams won the third prize, and 2 teams won an international prize.

This is the first time for our university to have participated in the PMC. With the support by leaders from Teaching Affairs Office and School of Material Science and Engineering, and the careful instruction by Professor Zhang Wenlong from Department of Polymer Material and Engineering. Tiancheng Team from our University, members including Xu Wenhua, Chen Bingyi, Zhang Xi, Liu Lianlian, on the first prize through fierce competition of 3 rounds, and received high praise from experts and judges. Professor Zhang Wenlong gained the honor of “Excellent Instructor”. They won honors for our university. Such great result further demonstrates that our university constantly lays great emphasis on cultivating students’ problem-solving abilities, creativity abilities, and scientific research qualities. It is also another fruitful result gained by the Department of Polymer Materials as one of the national special majors.
