On May 28, 2015, HUST’s Law School was invited to join the Heilongjiang Provincial Law School Debate organized by Heilongjiang Provincial Educational Bureau and Heilongjiang Provincial Law Community and hosted by Heilongjiang University. The Law School of HUST received the invitation in April. Following that, the preparation was led by Vice Director of Law School Han Bing. Meanwhile, Fang Yan and Cui Yanfeng were appointed as supervisors. After careful selection, candidates including Mu Yiming, Gao Jian, Wang Fangqi, Sun Han, Ma Xinjia and Jiao Jinling were determined. In one month preparation, students and teachers gathered in the Mediation Room of the Law School discussing the debating topic, proposition, refutation, conclusion and free debate.

On May 28, in the first debate of HUST delegate, the opponent of HUST was the delegate from Harbin University and the topic was “Whether suppressing Internet rumor is the deprivation of Internet rumor”. After heated debate, HUST delegate succeeded in accessing to the debate in the next stage. In the afternoon, HUST delegate rivaled the delegate from Harbin Normal University and was qualified to semi-final. Mu Yiming and Wang Qi were awarded the best debater in the previous debates respectively.

On May 29, in the debate with Qiqihar University, Qiqihar University won the debate. HUST delegate lost the opportunity to access to the final and ranked the third in the Debate. In the award ceremony, HUST delegate was awarded the first prize, furthermore, Mu Yiming and Wang Fangqi received the prize for the best debater; Fang Yan and Cui Yanfeng were granted the honor of the first prize for supervisors. In the debate, HUST delegate not only harvested honor for HUST, but presented the demeanor of the Law School, and demonstrated the strength of the Law School.
