During the 6^thInternational Forum on Strategic Technology (IFOST2011), the 5^thHarbin Korea Week Matchmaking Symposium of Sci-tech Communication was held in HUST on August 22^nd, which was sponsored by Harbin Municipal Government, assisted by Ulsan University, South Korea, and undertaken by Harbin Municipal Science and Technology Agency and HUST.

The attendees included the representatives from Ulsan Government,Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, some companies from Ulsan, Ulsan University, Harbin Municipal Science and Technology Agency, HUST, and some companies in Harbin. Moreover, Vice President Zhao Hong presided at thesymposium.

During the symposium, Mr. Jiang Bin, Deputy Director fromHarbin Municipal Science and Technology Agency, Professor Zhu Fengxian from Ulsan University, former Deputy Mayor of Ulsan, and Mr. Nan Douhuan, Director from Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology delivered speeches respectively.

After the symposium, four groups were divided for scientific and technological communication. Meanwhile, the scientific and technological achievements were displayed and attracted the guests attending IFOST2011. Thesymposiumenhanced the scientific and technological communication and cooperation between South Korea and Harbin, improved HUST’s academic status and international influence, and facilitated the development of local companies and local economy. What’s more, the Korean experts attending IFOST2011 praised highly the exchange platform between South Korea and China.

In the afternoon, the matchmaking symposium of sci-tech communication concerning regional innovation was held in HUST. The attendees included Russian representatives, Mongolian representatives, Bangladeshi representatives attending IFOST2011, and representatives fromHarbin Municipal Science and Technology Agency, Russian Exchange Center in Heilongjiang Province and some companies in Harbin.

In the evening, invited by Harbin Municipal Government, more than thirty experts, scholars and representatives from Ulsan attended theopening ceremonyof the 5^thHarbin Korea Week and enjoyed the concert.(Photos by Yang Jianrui)
