On the afternoon of December 2nd, HUST holds the research forum for young teachers on west campus in order to commend those young teachers who won in “the first Provincial Young Teachers’ Teaching Contest” and observe the winners’ wonderful teaching performances and further discuss some problems still existing in the teaching progress of young teachers. President Li Dayong, Vice President Meng Dawei, Chairman of HUST Labor Union Yang Chun, Director of Personnel Department Rong Panxiang, Director of Teaching Affairs Department Ge Baojun, Vice Chairman of trade union Qi Kaijun, Deputy Director of Teaching Affairs Department Song Qingkun and leaders in charge of teaching from all schools attended the meeting. The four awarded teachers and their instructors Professor Cui Yunan, Yu Xiaoyang and Guo Hong as well as all committee of Young Teachers Association and 260 young teachers participated in the activity. More than 40 young teachers from Rongcheng College watched the broadcast synchronously.

First of all, the Award Ceremony was hosted by the Chairman of Labor Union Yang Chun, who clarified the meaning of this activity, confirmed the recent work made by Young Teachers Association and wished the ceremony a success. Vice President Meng Dawei announced the lists of winners in the first Provincial Young Teachers’ Teaching Contest and awards were presented to the winners and their instructors.

Liu Zhuofu, the teacher from School of Measurement-Control Technology and Communications Engineering, achieved the first prize by bilingual teaching of the course: Digital Signal Processing and Analysis, and the best teaching plan as well. Luo Laizhen from School of Applied Sciences got a second prize for the presentation of Advanced Mathematics, Pang Baokun, teacher from School of Foreign Languages also got the second prize by teaching Advanced English and Wang Shurui won the third prize in Liberal Arts and English teaching competition. Professor Yu Xiaoyang, Director of School of Measurement-Control Technology and Communications Engineering, achieved the award of the best supervisor.

As the representatives of the winners, Liu Zhuofu delivered a speech, reviewing the course of the competition and analyzing the important roles and missions of young teachers. On behalf of the university, President Li Dayong extended warm congratulations for the winners and their instructors and expectation to all the young teachers of HUST. The second part—Observing Teaching Activity—was hosted by Shan Lina, Deputy Director of Young Teacher Association. The four winners displayed wonderful teaching performances in turns, which impressed other young teachers a lot. They spoke highly of the winners’ performances and gave warm applause.

The third part—Discussion between Young Teachers—was hosted by Xu Jiazhong, Deputy Director of Young Teacher Association. Young teachers proposed some questions and expressed their suggestions and opinions about teaching. The leaders answered all the questions carefully and patiently. Finally, Vice President Meng Dawei gave comments on the forum; he hoped that young teachers should shoulder the responsibility of the society and period and do their best to be spiritual leaders for students.
