A Canadian Delegation from the University of Calgary Visited Our University

At the invitation of our university, the delegation has only four people who are Prof. Janaka Ruwanpura, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calgary; Prof. Ken Barker, the President of Faculty of Science; Prof. Anil K. Mehrotra, the Dean of Schulich School of Engineering Chemistry and Petroleum Engineering; and Prof. Andrew JH Tay. On Jan. 16, they arrived at our university for a working visit.

Zhao Hong, the Vice-principal, met the delegation. At first, Janaka Ruwanpura, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calgary, expressed his willingness of cooperation with our university. The University of Calgary has implemented a new international strategy since March 2013 and will further strengthen the cooperation with China, German, Mexico, America, the Middle East, Tanzania. HUST is one of the important cooperative partners whom they are seeking for. The University of Calgary hopes the cooperation in education with 3+2 or 2+2 pattern to co-cultivate students. Zhao Hong extended warm welcome to guests and introduced entire condition of our university and specific majors especially aiming at the cooperation project. Zhao Hong also expressed that the University of Calgary is one of the prestigious universities in Canada and our university expects the cooperation. As both sides are expert in engineering types, we can find new cooperation.

The University of Calgary is committed to advanced technology in Information Processing and research and development in Medical Technology, equipped with advanced scientific research facilities, hospital, environmental research center, observatory, library, theatre, museum, art gallery and the most advanced athletic facility in Canada. The University of Calgary is one of nine national excellent scientific research centers and the only one high quality education center. The International Tourism Education and research center of the University of Calgary was recognized by WTO and is the only research center out of Europe. In addition, masses of research institutions, research centers and research groups are indulged in professional studies on law, family, energy, environment, engineering, software, the humanities and other fields, and have obtained outstanding achievements.
