Invited by our university, the delegation of London Metropolitan University visited our university on Jan. 7, 2015. The visitors are Professor Roger Crouch and Professor Sanoware Khan, director and vice director of Mathematics and Computer Science & Engineering School, and Ms. Yue Xiaoli, the lead of student project of London Metropolitan University.

Our vice president Zhao Hong met the delegation. He showed warm welcome to the delegation at the beginning, and reviewed our cooperation with London Metropolitan University from 2002. With the change of our university’s international cooperation, he intends to seek the new mode, and hopes to increase the rate of our students’ going abroad on the basis of original items.

Professor Roger Crouch expressed his appreciation to our warm reception at first. Then he introduced the reformation in the School of Mathematics and Computer Science & Engineering, London Metropolitan University since his taking office from 2013. The school of Computer Science was merged into the school of engineering. At present, an increasing number of computer science applications are used in the fields of engineering, business, finance, management, etc. The aim of reformation is to cultivate compound talents with multiple professional backgrounds, and to meet the requirements of present job market. Aiming at the students with Mathematics foundation, the new majors like Network Security, Data Science, and Computer Game Technology are opened.

Based on the similar majors between the two universities, vice president Zhao Hong said the focus of cooperation are in the undergraduate and graduate projects in the majors of communication system, computer science and technology, information and computing Science, applied statistics, electrical and electronic engineering, civil engineering, machine manufacturing and automation. Around the new modes of cooperation, the two parties discussed extensively and reached consensus. They intended to sign new cooperation agreement.

After the meeting, Professor Roger Crouch and Ms. Yue Xiaoli made a report to our students about studying abroad consultation. During visiting, Professor Roger Crouch had a discussion with Professor, director of Architectural Engineering School in running a joint school in the field of architecture.

The personnel accompanying the meeting are Professor Chen Deyun, director of Computer Science and Technology, Professor Fan jianying, director of Measurement and Control Technology and Communication Engineering School, Professor Wang Junming, school of Applied Science, Professor Xi Zhaohui, director of International Cooperation & Exchanges Office, and Professor Shao Yang, vice director of International Cooperation & Exchanges Office.
