For the purpose of honouring the 130thanniversary of the birthday of Mao Zedong as well as spreading and upholding Xi Jinping thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20thCongress of the Communist Party of China, the exhibition of cultural works honouring the 130thanniversary of the birthday of Mao Zedong was held by Harbin University of Science and Technology in the hall of the Main Building in the west zone, from 26 to 28 December, 2023.
On 26thDecember, Zhao Shuishan, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Sun Shuhai, the Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and the Vice President Yang Zhongxue went to the exhibition venue to give directions. Zhao Shuishan said through the special charm of the works we followed the experiences of the great man and felt his passion for his motherland and people. He stated that in honour of Mao Zedong we should learn Maoism, be down-to-earth, embrace solidarity under the guidance of the Party Central Committee with President Xi Jinping as the centre and strive to innovate, which will boost the modernization of China and the realization of the Chinese Dream: the great rejuvenation of China.
During the exhibition, sections of HUST organized teachers and students to visit and study. In enjoying the works, they recalled the remarks of the great man, carrying forward the excellent traditional culture of the CPC and promoting the modernization of China. It was agreed that Mao Zedong devoted all his life to the prosperity of China, to the revitalization of the Chinese nation and to the happiness of Chinese people. Yang Zhongxue said that Maoism is the guidance principle on which the CPC acts. He stated that we should turn individual patriotism into the motive for studying and working, making contributions to the prosperity of China, the rejuvenation of Heilongjiang and the quality development of HUST.
That exhibition also set a zone of the culture of integrity, showing what happened during Mao’s inspection in Harbin in the February of 1950 and his inscriptions for Songyuan Province (the old name of Heilongjiang Province) and Harbin:“Study Marxism and Leninism”,“Learn Knowledge”,“Work Hard”,“Develop Production”and“Keep Away from Bureaucracy”. The Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission Sun Shuhai said,“Although Mao Zedong wrote the inscriptions 73 years ago, they are still applicable to the new era. Cadres of our party should constantly study the essence of the process that Marxism adapts to the country and the era, with Xi Jinping’s thoughts on the socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era as guidance, sticking to‘Three Musts’, relying on the people and serving the people, enhancing the effects of the theme education and promoting the modernization of China by improving our ability and morality for the new era.”
The exhibition was made by the University Publicity Department of the CPC, the University Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Office of Retirement Affairs. After three months of preparation, about 150 pieces of calligraphy, painting, poetry, paper cutting and antiques from the current and the retired teachers and faculty. In the centre of the exhibition laid the bust of Mao Zedong. Pictures, words, inscriptions and poems recalled the outstanding life of Mao Zedong and his historical contributions, recorded what happened when he inspected in Harbin in 1950 and showed his inscriptions for Heilongjiang. The exhibition collected the excellent works of calligraphy, painting, paper cutting and poetry by the teachers, students and retired faculty, which demonstrated their impressive artistic skills and cultural attainment, expressing their patriotism and showing the traditions and spirits of the university.
