On March 11, the awarding ceremony and on-site performance of the speech contest "A Gift to the 20th Congress, Heilongjiang in My Eyes" hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government was held in Harbin. Students from the school of Foreign Languages of our university won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 5 third prizes in the contest. Palizati Amatjiang, student from English Department, Class 3, won the first prize. She took the lead in presenting her speech, described the beautiful and colorful Heilongjiang in her eyes using vivid language.
In this contest, Xiang Yang and Zhang Yuehua from the school of Foreign Languages of our university won the second prizes respectively in the Japanese group and Chinese group; Zhang Qingchang, Liu Jieying, Tian Jiaqi, Liu Ran and Niu Tianzhen won the third prizes respectively in the Chinese group, English group and Russian group.
The purpose of holding this speech contest is to show the earth-shaking changes that have taken place in Heilongjiang since the reform and opening up, to tell the story of China and Heilongjiang, and to further serve the opening up and development of Heilongjiang. By conducting this contest, students' sense of nation was cultivated, Heilongjaing was known and cherished by the world, the story of China and the voice of Heilongjiang were extended to the world. A total of 148 short video entries were collected from Harbin, Jiamusi, Daqing, Jixi, Shuangyashan, Yichun, Hegang, Heihe, Suihua, including 9 cities, 21 universities, several provincial foreign affairs offices and some social units. Among them, 126 foreign language speech works were presented by Chinese side, and 22 Chinese speech works were presented by people overseas, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, the United States, South Korea, India, Laos, Vietnam, Cameroon, and Congo (DRC).
Our university has been collecting entries since the beginning of September last year, and has received a total of 73 speech videos in English, Japanese, Russian and Chinese. After expert evaluation, more than ten speech works were selected to participate in this provincial competition. This competition has improved our students' practical ability of their foreign languages, enhanced the supply level of our university's second classroom project, demonstrated the foreign language style of our students, further promoted Heilongjiang culture, promoted the inheritance of its cultural genes, and strengthened students' sense of national pride and their cultural confidence.
