Recently, the Central Committee of the Youth Communist League and the National Office of Project Management of the Western Program for Voluntary Service for College Students issued the “Notice on issuing the list of outstanding county-level project offices and university project offices for appraising performance of the Western Program in 2019”, and our school was acclaimed as “Outstanding Project Office for National Western Program” in 2019.
In recent years, the Western Program Office of our university has continuously took the Western Program as an important carrier to enhance the ideological and political education of college students, and promoted the voluntary work of college students from the aspects of well-established organization, all-rounded mechanism, adequate funds and favorable opportunities. Our school has been aiming to attract the students to serve the society, which serves as a new way to grow up and become talented, and renders a new stage for realizing their dreams.
Since the implementation of the project, our school has selected more than 140 outstanding graduates (including Volunteers of Teaching Assistance Group of Graduate) to go to Tibet, Xinjiang, the production and construction corps of Xinjiang, Shaanxi and Heilongjiang to carry out grass-roots education, science and technology, poverty alleviation and other western program voluntary service work.
In the future, the Western Program of our university will focus on better serving the volunteers of the program, regard voluntary service as an essential part of cultivating talented students and serving the society. Meanwhile, it is expected that we will continue to renew related policies and measures, improve the working mechanism, consolidate and broaden the employment channels of the program. In addition, our school will continuously promote the development of the program and voluntary service work, making it an indispensable part in the employment of college students, and educating students through practice and so forth.
