On November 22, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering announced the results of the 2019 Academician co-election. Wei Yiyin, an alumnus of the Automatic Control Class 80, was elected as an Academician of the Information and Electronic Engineering Department of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Wei Yiyin, male, born in Taian, Liaoning Province in September 1962, joined the party in December 1995. In September 1980, he was admitted to Harbin University of Science and Technology, majoring Automatic Control. He graduated from the Institute of the Ministry of Aerospace Industry with a master’s degree in Aircraft Navigation and Control system, Harbin Institute of Technology with a doctor’s degree in Control Science and Engineering. He is a researcher, Academician of the International Academy of Astronautics, expert in Flight Missile Control and Guidance, deputy general manager of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation and member of the party leadership group. He served as the expert in space X type, engaged in model design, making a great contribution to the advancement of aerospace technology in China. He has won two first prizes and one second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 12 authorized invention patents, Science and Technology Award of Heliang Heli Foundation, Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award and many other honors.
Up to now, four of our undergraduate students have been elected Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Han Jiecai (alumnus of the class of 85 of Metal Materials and Heat Treatment, elected academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015); Tian Yongjun (alumnus of the class of 84 of Metal Materials and Heat Treatment, elected Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017) and Wei Yiyin (alumnus of the class of 84 of Automatic Control, elected Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2019). Four fellow alumni uphold the thoughts of Academician Wang Dahang in their respective study and work. They have made outstanding contributions to the development of national science and technology, and they are the pride and model of the faculty and students of HUST, motivating the faculty to achieve the goal of “double first-class” universities.
