2019 Mathematical Contest in Modelingfor American College Students was held in the mathematical modeling lab in Rongcheng Campus during Jan.25thand 29thwith 17 teams competing in thecontest. The recently-disclosed result showed that contestants from Rongcheng Campus have got one1stInternational Prize,six 2ndInternational Prizes, and 10Excellent Prizes.
HUST supports the mathematical modeling contest strongly by providing the students and the teachers with a sound platform fortheparticipation of the contest.Thanks to heartfelt supports from HUST leaders and officials from Division of Teaching Affairsand relevant departments and offices,HUST contestants got outstanding honors, which should also owe to their persistence and struggle and the pains taking effort that the guiding teacher shave taken. During the competition, the teachers who are serious and strict to each step of the contest “guide generally and supervise individually” and in the mean time,contestants unitedly cooperate and work hard day and night. After continuous effort, they have successfully fulfilled the competition task finally.
In the training session during the winter holiday,allthe contestants were comprehensively trained in the fields like“English technical thesis reading and writing for the mathematical modeling” and “simulated training for the mathematical modeling”. The tutors’ strictness and devotion to the training in spired the contestants and helped to improve their abilities in English reading, English writing, mathematical modeling as well. As a result,their over all strength in mathematical modeling hasrisen greatly, and the team cohesion has been enhanced greatly, too.
