In order to promote the development of Artificial Intelligence Applied Technology Collaborative Innovation Center, Professor Liu Leibo of Tsinghua University was invited by HUST on August 13th and 14th for an academic exchange. On August 13th, Vice President of HUST Liu Shenghui, Head of Technology Department Wu Mingyang, Head of Department of Development and Planning Sun Mingzhe, Chief of School of Software and Microelectronics Zhang Hongguo, Deputy Director of Technology Department Zhang Ying, Deputy Dean of School of Software and Microelectronics Huang Hai had further talks on discipline construction, the Artificial Intelligence Applied Technology Collaborative Innovation Center in our university, and the undergraduate construction of Qinghua University. On the meeting, after delivering a concise report on integrate circuit industry, Professor Liu Leibo made an introduction to his research field, research interest and undergraduate construction of Qinghua University. Having shown his warm welcome to Professor Liu, Vice President of HUST Liu Shenghui emphasized that integrate circuit industry, which was at an age of rapid growth, faced unprecedented opportunities and challenges. Professor Liu was recruited as doctoral supervisor and honorary chief of Artificial Intelligence Applied Technology Collaborative Innovation Center, which would play a significant role in discipline construction, staff training, promotion of research capabilities and long-term development of HUST. Wu Yangming made a detailed introduction to the background, significance and outlook of the construction of the Center. It is believed that due to the great importance attached to it by the leaders of HUST and the leadership of Professor Liu, the Center will surely develop greatly by the unremitting efforts of the young staff of this center, which will assist the Double First-Class Construction. Vice President Liu Shenghui awarded Professor Liu the Letter of Appointment of doctoral supervisor.
On August 14th, Professor Liu had a seminar with part of young staff and students of Artificial Intelligence Applied Technology Collaborative Innovation Center, which was attended by Head of Department of Development and Planning Sun Mingzhe, Head of Technology Department Wu Mingyang, and Deputy Dean of School of Software and Microelectronics Huang Hai. Professor Liu made an introduction to his research field and research achievements in Tsinghua University, got to know the research field of each young teacher, answered the questions of the teachers and finally offered some practical guidance. He shared his own experience and obstacles that he had ever met as a young teacher as well as the choices that he had made in each stage of his life. What he said on the seminar enlightened the young staff greatly like a beacon. Having known the current situation of research of young staff, Head of Technology Department Wu Mingyang made a brief introduction to the blueprint of the Center, and expressed his hope for the construction of the Center as well as the staff in this Center. Deputy Dean of School of Software and Microelectronics Huang reported the progress and the outlook of the Center to the leaders. He showed his great thanks to the leaders for this platform and pointed out that this platform would be greatly beneficial to the development of the University and the teacher staff.
During his short stay in Harbin, Professor Liu made deep discussion and exchange with the leaders of Internet Safety and Information Office on Information Safety organized by Technology Department of HUST.
A brief introduction to Professor Liu Leibo
Liu Leibo, Assistant of Head of Microelectronics Research Department of Qinghua University, doctoral supervisor, is the leading expert of key projects of the National High Technology Research and Development Program("863"Program) of China. He got his bachelor degree and doctor degree in the department of electronic engineering of Qinghua University and Microelectronics Research Institute in 1999 and 2004 respectively. He began to teach in 2004, and had academic visit to many institutions like European Microelectronics Center, MIT and Oxford University in 2006, 2013, and 2017. He has hosted over 10 key national programs. He published more than 80 papers by SCI indexing and over 60 papers by EI indexing, owned over 50 patents, and published 2 academic books and 4 translation works. He ever worked as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the organizing committee of IEEEA-SSCC. The key technology he obtained has been applied to some areas like information safety chips and CPU chips accelerator etc. He has got many awards such as the second-rate national technology invention, the golden award of national patents, the first-prize of the teaching contest of young teachers in Beijing and MOOC pioneer, etc.
