HUST Gets 3rdPlace in “The 5thRussian Talent Show” Overseas Finals

“The 5thRussian Talent Show” finals and the docking activities of Sino-Russia universities were held in Vladivostok, Russia on 11-12 October, 2017. The 14 finalists competed on poetry recitations and film clip-imitations, and eventually Hu Dongsheng (senior student) and Chen Xiaotong (Junior student) from Russian Major of School of the Foreign Languages, HUST won the third place and Bu Qingqing gets the 7thplace missing the medal. Professor Chang Ying, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of HUST, together with the teacher delegates from Harbin Institute of Technology, Shandong University and Heilongjiang University visited Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service (VSUES) and its gifted children school by sharing their experiences in quality education with the Russian counterparts. More than 30 Chinese and foreign guests were present at the activity, including Li Hong, a member of the Publicity Departmentof Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Lazarev, Chairman of VSUES in Russia, Stalic, Director of the International Cooperation Department of Russian Coastal Border Area, and Zubritski, Head of the Russian Foundation for the Far East, and representatives of Chinese consulate general in Vladivostok.

Sponsored by Northeast Network, Heilongjiang Russian Language Society and VSUES, “The 5thRussian Talent Show” was jointly held by the propaganda department of Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, Ministry of Education in Heilongjiang Province, the Russian Federation Consulate General in Shenyang, and Heilongjiang University. Since May, the show has spread across 20 provinces and cities in China and other countries and 860 contestants from about 62 colleges and universities and 32 Chinese and foreign media have enrolled in the show. All the 13 contestants from HUST were successful to be present at the quarter-finals, 9 entered the semi-finals of the group, and finally 3 got excellent results in the finals after heated competition.

As thefinale of“Year of China-Russia Media Exchange”, the year of 2017 witnessed a good relationship between China and Russia, a better understanding between the people, a mutually beneficial cooperation and an everlasting friendship by successful promotions of competitions, shows, educational exchange activities. With “Language—A Tie of Belt & Road” as the theme, these events contributed greatly to the advancement of spirits of hard-working, bravery, progress, courage and motivation.
