Diploma awarding ceremony for 2017 post graduates was held at Room 0220 of No. 1 Building on the Western Campus at 14 o’clock on April 1, 2017. Professor Zhao Guogang, Secretary of School Party, professor Li Dayong, President of HUST, professor Lu Yan, Deputy Secretary of School Party, professor Guo Erjun, professor Yang Chun, and professor Fang Wenbin, Vice President of HUST, Professor Wang Zhihao, Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection,professor Yin Yansheng, representatives of alumnus, Dean of Material Science and Engineering Institute of Shanghai Maritime University, doctoral supervisor, and Changjiang Scholar, together with members of academic degrees committee, and principals in charge of student work were all invited to attend the ceremony. 2017 doctors and post graduates, and some of the students’ parents also take part in the ceremony, which was presided by professor Ge Baojun, Director of Graduate Faculty.
7 doctoral graduates and 670 post graduates has been successfully graduated this year. Professor Lu Yan, professor Guo Erjun, professor Yang Chun, and professor Wang Zhihao respectively read documents issued by HUST regarding Ph. D. students and master students’ graduation, diploma awarding, list of outstanding graduates, and advanced individuals in technical activities.
Later, diploma awarding ceremony began. Professor Li Dayong, president of HUST awarded doctor degrees to doctor graduates, while other administrators and members of academic degrees committee awarded master degrees to post graduates.
Su Lin from the School of Applied Science, representatives of 2017 graduates, expressed gratitude and attachment to his mother university, on behalf of all graduates. After that, Liu Bo, Vice President of Graduate Students Union, expressed his heartfelt blessing to senior fellow apprentice who have completed school studies and successfully graduated, on behalf of current students.
Professor Hu Jun from School of Applied Science, Humboldt Scholar, winner of Huo Yingdong Fund, reserve leader of provincial leading talent team, shared personal feeling with all graduates, on behalf of supervisors. Professor Yin Yansheng, representatives of alumnus, Dean of Material Science and Engineering Institute of Shanghai Maritime University, doctoral supervisor, and Changjiang Scholar, delivered a speech on behalf of alumnus. They both expressed their sincere hopes for students.
Finally, Vice President Fang Wenbin sent congratulations and wishes to all 2017 graduates, and encouraged them to make their dream come true.
After the short but unforgettable ceremony, administrators, members of academic degrees committee, representative of supervisors, representatives of alumnus, and all 2017 graduates took a group photo to mark the significant occasion.
