HUST Graduation and Degree Awarding Ceremony for 2012 Undergraduates

2012 HUST Undergraduates’ Graduation and Degree Awarding Ceremony was held at our gymnasium at 3 p.m. on June 29th. The leaders of HUST attended this ceremony, including Party Secretary Gao Jun, President Li Dayong, Vice President Zhao Hong, Wu Junfeng, Meng Dawei, and Wei Xinlao, Deputy Party Secretary Lu Yan, Vice President Guo Erjun, President Assistant Meng Zhuang and Rong Panxiang. It also attracted some teachers and students, such as the leaders from each college, representatives of Dalian Alumni Association, and 6,000 undergraduates. Vice President Wu Junfeng presided at the ceremony, and President Li Dayong delivered a speech.

With the solemn national anthem, the graduation ceremony was inaugurated. Vice President Meng Dawei, President Li Dayong and Vice President Zhao Hong read out several decisions and announcements of the university respectively. Undergraduate Pan Yuan from Machinery College, and Qu Zhongzhi from School of Automation, representative of teachers Professor Cui Yun’an, and President of Dalian Alumni Association Mr. Zhang Haijie also made speeches.

President Li Dayong gave a wonderful speech. On behalf of HUST, President Li extended earnest congratulations and wishes to all the undergraduates. He also gave the warmest applause to express heartfelt gratitude and high compliments to the families and friends who concerned and cared about undergraduates. At the end of ceremony, President Li Dayong proposed four points of anticipation: hoping students firmly remember school motto of “the unity of moral knowledge and practice, the unification of social commitment and ambitions” to be a person who dedicates himself to his country and people; hoping them to inherit school’s outstanding quality of “behave honestly and work steadfastly”, to be a person responsible for his organization and loyal to his friends; hoping them unswervingly to stick to the style “rigorous and diligence realistic self-improvement”, to be a person who is diligent and persistent in doing his job; hoping them to popularize the school spirit of “forging ahead in unity and innovation”, to be a person who adds glory to his school.

After the ceremony, the leaders and students enjoyed wonderful a performance held by the Youth League of our university.
