HUST 4 Professors Elected Members of Higher Learning Teaching Steering Committee of Ministry of Education

Recently, the Ministry of Education has issuedOn the Notice of Establishing the Higher Learning Teaching Steering Committee of Ministry of Education for 2013 to 2017(Jiao-Gao-Han [2013] 4) and also released the staff list of the Higher Learning Teaching Steering Committee of Ministry of Education for 2013 to 2017 (hereinafter referred to as the Teaching Steering Committee). Four professors of HUST were elected to join the Higher Learning Teaching Steering Committee or Branch Committee of different disciplines and it has been the first time for the professor of HUST to be the Deputy Director of the Teaching Steering Committee for the main category.

The Doctoral Tutor and Professor Ge Baojun from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was elected to be the Deputy Director of Teaching Steering Committee for Electrical Major.

The Doctoral Tutor and Professor Zhou Zhen from the School of Measurement-Control Technology and Communications Engineering was elected to be the member of Teaching Steering Committee for Safety Science and Engineering Major.

The Doctoral Tutor and Professor Guo Er’jun from the School of Material Science and Engineering was elected to be the member of Teaching Steering Committee for Material Major and member of Teaching Steering Branch Committee for Metal Material Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering Major.

The Doctoral Tutor and Professor Shao Junpeng from the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering was elected to be the member of Teaching Steering Committee for mechanical fundamental courses.

The Teaching Steering Committee is a non-standing academic expert-organization hired and directed by the Ministry of Education, accepting the commission of the Ministry of Education and conducting the research, consulting, direction, evaluation, service and other work for the undergraduate teaching of the institutions of higher learning.

The members of the Teaching Steering Committee this year were conscientiously elected through the election of the Ministry of Education and consultation seeking based on the recommendation given by the provincial (district or municipal) education administrative authority, the institutions of higher learning affiliated to the Central Division, professional departments (associations) and former Teaching Steering Committee (Specified in Attachment). The members of the Teaching Steering Committee will be appointed by the Employment Agreement issued by the Ministry of Education and the term of office will be from April 1, 2013 to December 31, 2017.

That four professors of HUST were elected to join the Higher Learning Teaching Steering Committee or Branch Committee is the achievement of the constant importance attached to undergraduate teaching by HUST and the recognition from other national institutions of higher learning for the contributions of the major teaching, academic research and other aspects made by the professors of HUST as well. This is of great significance for HUST to strengthen the undergraduate major construction, improve the teaching quality and further promote the reputation of HUST nationwide.
