On the afternoon of July 14, 2016, Professor Lei Qingquan, the founder of state key discipline of High Voltage and Insulation Technology, discipline development guide, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave the academic report in Room 501 in the New Teaching Building. The title of the report is The Feature and Function of Dielectric Polarization, Conductivity, and Localized State. The report is held by Science and Technology Department and School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and more than 200 teachers and postgraduates took part in the report. It is hosted by Chen Qingguo, the dean of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
There are four themes of Academician Lei’s report: (1) Understanding of dielectric polarization and conductivity from current carrier; (2) The conversion of time domain and frequency dielectric spectra; (3) The trap and space charge of dielectric; (4) The theoretical confusion and prospect in insulation dielectric. In the report, Academician Lei elaborated the theory of dielectric from easy to complicated by the vivid language. He expressed his own opinion and understanding concerning the current challenge and opportunities.
Although Academician Lei is over sixty years old, he still devotes himself to scientific research, closely follows the frontier of the discipline development and cares the development of discipline construction and young teachers. In the nearly two-hour report, Academician Lei shared his reading comprehension and recommended the teachers and students to think and ask during the reading. At the same time, he put forward the high expectation for the young teachers and students.
Through the report, the teachers and students benefit a lot and they know that only by doing research and mastering solid theoretical foundation, can they make excellent achievements in this professional field.
