To welcome the arrival of the 101stInternational Working Women’s Dayon Mar. 8, Labour Union with the co-sponsor Sports Department and Reception Center held “theFemale Teaching and Administrative Staff’s Funny Sports Meeting” on Mar. 7 at the Gymnasium.
The opening ceremony was held by the chairman of Labour Union Yang Chun. 700 faculty members from 26 departments under the leadership of the group leaders received review in excellent fettle when they passed the rostrum. They were valiant and heroic in bearing and exhibited the elegant demeanour with measured steps. Party Secretary Gao Jun addressed the meeting with enthusiasm, congratulated all women teaching and administrative teachers and expressed holiday greetings on the behalf of leading organs of the Party and Labour Union. Gao affirmed the extraordinary role that the women faculty on the plain position play in teaching, researching, administrating, and serving, and he hoped the general teaching and administrative women teachers to offer numerous proposals and suggestions for the development of educational undertakings. May the intellectual women teachers of our university be happy and beautiful.
There were many events in the funny sports meeting, including, relay race of two dragons playing with a pearl, the moon delivery under the sea, driving the pig, shuttlecock kicking on fixed point, crossing the river by touching stones and etc.. On the field, all teachers performed delightly and playfully, and displayed fine sportsmanship and friendship. All staff of Department of PE took the stand and more than 60 umpires who are fair and professional and dedicated guaranteed the well afoot of the novelty races.
The happy, harmonious and festivous celebration was ended successfully at 16:00. It is the largest and most diversified sports event held on March 8 over the years. At the new starting point of the 60thanniversary of our university, to achieve the goal to construct the teaching and academic research science and technology university, the hot competition plays an excellent role in solidarity condensing and exhibits the cooperation of women teachers and brings forth a good team work to everyone, which deepens the mutual understanding, enhances the friendship and inspires enthusiasm.(Photos by Yang Jianrui)
