In order to further strengthen the China-UK project, Professor K.T.V. Grattan, dean of the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences of City University London, together with Ms Zhang Qin, project leader of graduate office, and Ms. Helen Yue, students project leader, visited Harbin University of Science and Technology (HUST) on June 14 2011.

Vice President Zhao Hong and Vice President Meng Dawei met with the delegation. During the meeting, they held a detailed discussion about mutual sending undergraduates and postgraduates, and discussed the supplemental agreement based on the original one on mutual recognition of credits. During the talks, Vice President Zhao introduced the 1 + 1 undergraduates program and 2 + 2 graduate students program this year and thanked City University London for what it has done for six HUST graduate students in the year of 2010. Then, Prof. Grattan made an introduction to entry requirements and the new visa policy this year, and gave full recognition to HUST postgraduates’ performance last year in the U.K. Additionally, in terms of course connection between the two universities, according to the plan two professors from the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences of City University London will give lectures in HUST next semester. Vice President Meng and Prof. Grattan made arrangements in detail.

After the meeting, 14 candidates in 2011 HUST students sending project were interviewed by Prof. K.T.V. Grattan. Besides, while having talks with the 16 students in next year project, Prof. K.T.V. Grattan answered their questions and gave them advice.

Last year, six students from HUST chose to pursue their further study in City University London. They enrolled in subjects of Telecommunications & Networks, and Mechanical Engineering and will obtain master degree in this November. (Photo by Yang Jianrui)
