Students of HUST Gain Outstanding Results in 2013 Mathematical Modeling League for Northeast Provinces

The 2013 Mathematical Modeling League for Northeast Provinces (Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning) as well as HUST Mathematical Modeling Competition were held from April 15 to May 25, and the students of HUST, over 300 participants of more than 100 teams from 29 majors, actively took part in the matches, which were also the competitions with the largest number of participants from HUST.

The competition within HUST concluded on May 3. With the concerted effort of the participants and the elaborate guidance of the teachers, the team members submitted 93 contest papers, of which 35 papers were selected as the excellent papers to compete in the League for the Northeast Provinces through the evaluation given by the judges of HUST; at the same time, within HUST, 10 first prize papers, 10 second prize papers as well as 11 third prize papers were chosen. The League for the Northeast Provinces was over on May 25 and the evaluation of the competition was over as well several days ago. Of the 35 contest papers recommended by HUST, 14 papers won the first prize and 21 papers won the second prize; what’s more, 2 contest papers were recommended to compete for the “Shenzhen Cup” in the 2013 National College Students Mathematical Modeling Summer Camp, which were the best results got by the students of HUST in the Mathematical Modeling League for Northeast Provinces.
