On Dec. 14, the ceremony of granting Xinda prize for hope project of 2012-2013 was held in the 4th meeting room of HUST’s No. 1 Building of West Campus. Some top leaders of Xinda Group, the prize donor, and HUST, the prize donne, including Ma qingwei, the general manager of Xinda Holdings Limited (Hongkong), Ma Junjie, the general manager of Xinda Business Group, Meng Zhuang, HUST’s assistant principal etc., as well as Yang Jing and Liu Jing, the secretary-general and deputy secretary-general of the Youth Development Foundation of Heilongjiang province, attended the ceremony.

Set by Han Jie, rhe president of Xinda Group, Xinda prize for hope project has funded hundreds of undergraduates from poverty-stricken families to pull through their college lives. The amount of the prize reached its peak this year. As one of the seven universities being donated by this prize, HUST is awarded￥160,000 this year to support 40 undergraduates from its School of Material Science and Engineering, School of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering and School of Economy.

The ceremony was hosted by Man Chuntao, HUST’s director of Student Affairs Department. On it, general manager Ma Junjie, secretary-general Yang delivered their speeches to congratulate and encouragement to the 40 prize winners and good wishes to them and HUST’s future as well. Assistant principal Meng also addressed in the name of HUST to thank the kindness of Xinda Group and provincial Youth Development Foundation, and wished the prize winners to keep it in mind and work harder to give back someday. All the guests presented the award to the prize winners.
