Technology boosts the dream and innovation ushers in the challenge. From October 13 to 18, 2013, co-hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Students and Scholars Association as well as the Government of Jiangsu Province, the final round of 13^thChallenge Cup—National College Students Extra-curricular Academic Scientific and Technological Works Competition was concluded successfully. Five works from HUST got the national 3^rdawards and HUST got the Outstanding Organization Award for College as well, which were the best results of HUST for the past 10 years.

Challenge is enjoyed and the dream is shared. With the theme of “Challenge bringing innovation and making Chinese dreams come true”, from launched in March of 2013, the competitions in 2000 colleges and universities were held nationwide and nearly 20,000 pieces of works were submitted to the official website of Challenge Cup. Through provincial competition and national reexamination, 1135 pieces of works from 440 colleges and universities were qualified to compete for the final round. 59 pieces of works from 14 colleges and universities in Hong Kong and Macao also took part in the competition. For this competition, early from October, 2012, HUST started the 9^thChallenge Cup College Students Extra-curricular Scientific and Technological Academic Works Competition and got over 150 pieces of works. Organized byYouth League Committee of HUST, Science and Technology Department and Office of Teaching Affairs, many experts examined the works twice. Through first review, reexamination and suggestion giving phase, over 50 pieces of works out of over 150 were selected to compete for the final, of which 13 pieces of high-quality works were qualified to compete for the final round of HeilongjiangChallenge Cup College Students Extra-curricular Scientific and Technological Academic Works Competition.

The competition is the grand meeting for the dream and the stage for the innovation. Challenge Cup College Students Extra-curricular Scientific and Technological Academic Works Competitions with the name inscribed by Jiang Zemin, co-hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education and the Students and Scholars Association, have two types of competition, extra-curricular academic scientific and technological works competition and business plan completion. Held every other year, the competition is known as the Scientific and Technological Olympics for Chinese college students. Since the 1^stChallenge Cup in 1989, through over 20 years’ development, with the cordial care of Chinese Communist Party and generous support from all walks of the society, the competition has boomed, becoming the scientific and technological grand meeting attracting the college students to participate, the innovation cradle for the excellent youth to stand out, the important path for the college students to make contributions to the modernization drive, the practical classroom to deepen the well-rounded education of colleges and universities and the stage for the Chinese college students to showcase the talents.
