Students from School of Art Obtain the Excellent Resultin Ice and Snow Events in 2014-2015

Supported by the Office of Academic Affairs and organized by the School of Art, students from the School of Art attended two ice sculpture competitions, three snow sculpture competitions and they obtained the excellent result.

On December 26 and 27, The Culture Department of Heilongjiang Province and Organizational Committee of China Harbin International Snow Festival hosted the 12thHeilongjiang Province Undergraduate Ice Sculpture Design and Creation Contest. And students from College of Art won the bronze medal with the ice sculpture,Movement Full of Fantastic Dreams. Moreover, the other five teams won the excellent prize.

On December 29 on 30, two works,Charm of the SeaandExploring the Sea, won two bronze medals in the 9thNational Undergraduate Ice Sculpture Design and Creation Contest.

In the above contests, our university obtained Excellent Organization Award. Besides, Lin Xuewei and Zhang Honglei from College of Art obtained Outstanding Instructor Award.

On December 10, The Education Department of Heilongjiang Province and Organizational Committee of Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Exhibition hosted the finals of the 2ndHeilongjiang Province Undergraduate Snow Sculpture Contest. In this contest,Time Full of Fantastic Dreamswon the third prize.Opportunitywon the Prize of Excellence. And Zhang Honglei obtained Outstanding Instructor Award.

On January 4 and 7, 2015, in the 7thInternational Undergraduate Snow Sculpture Contest, hosted by Organizational Committee of China Harbin International Snow Festival and the Steering Committee on Professional Teaching of Industrial Design under the Ministry of Education, undertaken by Harbin Engineering University,Era Full of Fantastic Dreamswon the first prize, and Zhang Honglei obtained Outstanding Instructor Award.

This year, most team members attending the contests come from low grades of College of Art. Before the contests, Lin Xuewei, Dean of College of Art, and Zhang Honglei, a teacher from College of Art, provided theoretical knowledge training to the team members. The excellent result obtained in ice and snow contests can show that our university attached importance to students’ daily practice. During the 10 years, College of Art organized students to attend national and international contests of high level. Attending the ice and snow contests has become a fixed and distinctive job for College of Art, and even for our university. Representing the art feature of our university, the results have been praised by organizational committees and approved by our society. What’s more, through attending all kinds of competitions, students increased the knowledge, trained the ability, honed the will, and build the character. Attending ice and snow competitions has become a platform to show students’ innovational ability, and a beautiful scenery line to manifest students’ style.
