Great Achievements in the Fifth National University Teachers' Innovation Competition of Self-made Experimental Teaching Instruments and Equipment

Li Lanying, Han Jianhui, Quzhongshui and Zhou Xin, teachers of Computer College of our university, won the third prize in the Fifth National College Teachers' Innovation Competition of Self-Made Experimental Teaching Instruments and Equipment in Chengdu. Their original self-made equipment "Embedded and Internet Basic Experimental System" won the third prize. This is the first time that our school participated in this competition. This award is also the result of our school's reform and innovation in experimental practice teaching and the active development of self-made experimental equipment.

The Competition is sponsored by the Chinese Institute of Higher Education. It aims to mobilize the initiative of teachers to participate in experimental teaching reform and experimental technology research, and to improve teachers' teaching ability and professional level. Since its launch in May, 2018, it has received attentions from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology and many other famous universities. And more than 600 pieces of works have been registered in this competition. According to the preliminary online evaluation, 248 were selected and entered the finals, including 55 of machinery, 91 of electricity, 37 of experimental teaching software and 65 of other categories. Through a series of strict evaluation links, such as on-site final evaluation, commercial road show, exhibition of excellent works and final evaluation and reply, the final contest fully demonstrates the new style of teachers' devotion to independent research and development of experimental equipment, theoretical guidance and practice, and rigorous academic management.

Professor Li Lanying and other participants’The Embedded and Internet Basic Experimental Systemsupported experiments for four courses, and also strongly supported students in embedded technology learning, the introduction training, skills training, competition training, graduation design, creative projects and other practical links. The experimental system introduced the open source customer platform Arduino into embedded teaching, which solved the problem that teachers were troubled for many years. Because of the high threshold of embedded technology, students were tired of learning and abandoned learning. At present, no similar products have been found in the domestic market, and it is the first one in China. The system has stable performance, easy operation, good security, strong versatility, wide application and low cost. Compared with other embedded experimental systems on the market, and the biggest advantage of this experimental system is that it is simple, practical and easy to use. Freshmen complete the C/C++ language, embedded introductory foundation and embedded system design and practice training courses without learning the relevant professional basic courses. After nearly 60 hours of experiment and Practice on the experimental system, they can effectively stimulate the interest of embedded technology learning, self-confidence and active participation. Great improvements have been made. The trainees actively participated in the College Smart Car Competition, Internet of Things Competition and College Students' Electronic Design Competition, and many students won prizes. It has been proved that the experimental system effectively promotes students' learning of embedded technology-related scientific knowledge and skills, and plays an important role in the process of embedded personnel training and teaching.
