The projectGraphene Large-scale Energy Storage Technology and Equipment Research with the Smart Grid, submitted by Professor Chen Minghua of Collaborative Innovation Center of Graphene Application Technology of HUST, has finally won funds of two million RMB Yuan for special projects of the central government in guidance of local science and technology development after about 18 months of careful planning and preparations, through the reporting defense, expert argumentations, comprehensive reviews, financial reviews, approval of the Finance Department, the audit by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance, and other necessary processes; this is the first time that teachers in our university got the project of this kind.
Special Projects of the Central Government Guiding Local Science and Technology Development are the funding projects for the central government to support the local government focusing on the national science and technology development strategy and the local economic and social development. The goals are to improve the basic conditions of local scientific research, to optimize the environment of scientific and technological innovation, to promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and to elevate regional scientific and technological innovation ability. This year, the Department of Science and Technology organized to submit the projectGraphene Large-scale Energy Storage Technology and Equipment Research with the Smart Grid, following the Heilongjiang science and technology development plan, in accordance with the unified deployment ofHeilongjiang 3-Year Special Action Plan for Graphene Industry (2016-2018)and through contacts, reports, group discussions and site inspections. With the support from the Provincial Department of Science and Technology and Provincial Department of Finance, the project won the funding support. The project will be researched innovatively from two aspects: large-scale graphene energy storage battery manufacturing and integration, and large-scale energy storage technology and equipment research and development. The implementation of the project will lay a good foundation for the related researchers of our university to carry out the research work and will better serve the pillar industry in our province and the development of strategic emerging industries.
