On January 3, a debriefing by grassroots CPC members was held at the fifth floor of the main administrative building. Present at the meeting were Zhao Guogang, secretary of CPC HUST, Li Dayong, president of HUST, Lu Yan and Meng Shangjiu, deputy secretaries of CPC HUST, and Guo Erjun, Yang Chun, Man Chuntao, and Liu Shenghui, vice presidents of HUST. Grassroots CPC members and representatives also joined the meeting, which was chaired by Man Chuntao.  

At the meeting, 30 grassroots CPC members were debriefed, reviewing their work in 2016 and mapping out strategies for the new year.

Lu Yan and Man Chuntao commented on the reports and democratic appraisals of the 30 grassroots CPC members were carried out.

Zhao Guogang gave a speech at the meeting, indicating that putting emphasis on party building and giving reports by grassroots CPC members on the work they had completed were crucial measures to carry out the responsibilities delegated by CPC central and provincial committee. The comments given by the leaders were insightful and constructive. Achievements were recognized and questions about potential problems were raised.

Two suggestions about comprehensively strengthening Party discipline were put forward by Zhao Guogang. The first suggestion was to comprehend the current situation and raise awareness. Another proposition was concerning the comprehensive strengthening of Party discipline.

In the concluding speech given by vice president Man chuntao, emphasis was put on requesting all sectors of the university to study the speech given by Zhao Guogang and to implement the ideas to party building in 2017.
