I. Each Department Working Collaboratively, Integrated Removal Planning Accomplished Successfully
Since March 20, the Removal has been divided into three parts and arranged in harmonious order by the HUST Integrated Planning Leading Group.
With the joint efforts of the whole staff, the New Main Building has been put into regular operation on March 22. In May, the departments concerned on East Campus and West Campus started their removal and then those of the South Campus in July.
During the work, Secretary of HUST PC Gao Jun, President Li Dayong, Vice President Meng Dawei, and other leaders of HUST came to the spot and directed the removal in every possible detail. The whole staff and students gave their utmost understanding and support in this greatest removal since the merging of three colleges into one university.
II. 2nd Council Meeting of Alumni Assembly Held in HUST, Forging Bridges with Alma Mater

On June 11, 2nd Council Meeting of Alumni Assembly was held in HUST. Secretary of HUST PC, Gao Jun, President Li Dayong, Chairman of the Trade Union, Yang Chun, General Secretary of Alumni Assembly, Chen Hongbin, and Directors of Alumni Department, Liu Jun, Xu Hongbo, and all members of the council sat in on the conference.
The conference has scrutinized and subsequently passed the Constitution of HUST Alumni Assembly. President Li Dayong delivered the Work Report. Members, directors of different cities and regions exchanged ideas at the conference, expressing that they will forge the assembly into a bridge connecting HUST and her graduates, and enhance the cooperation between university and enterprises so as to make contributions to their Alma Mater in divergent aspects.
III. HUST Passed the 12th Five-Year Plan Developing Orientation Oral Defense and Demonstration
On June 24, HUST attended the Developing Orientation Oral Defense and Demonstration for 12th Five-Year Plan organized by Provincial Education Department.
During the Demonstration, Secretary of HUST PC, Gao Jun introduced the accomplishment of 11th Five-Year Plan, our Guiding Principles and developing orientation of 12th Five-Year Plan, illustrated the hardships and countermeasures and other aspects in detail.
Experts bestowed high praise on us and presented some constructive suggestions on undergraduates’ cultivation, and teaching faculty construction, etc. The success of the oral defense and demonstration has laid a solid foundation for the formulation of the 12th Five-Year Development Planning of HUST.
IV. Key Laboratory of Engineering Dielectrics, Car Electric Control and System Integration Construction Project Passed the Acceptance Check

On August 18, Key Laboratory of Engineering Dielectrics and its Applied Educational Department have passed the acceptance check by the expert group of National Ministry of Education, which was led by Academician, Cheng Shijie.
After the work report by Prof. Zhao Hong, on-site inspection, and attentive discussion, the expert group voted that the laboratory set an accurate orientation, boasts distinctive characteristics, and enjoys a predominant superiority, which was accomplished completely according to the assignment.
Academician Chen Shijie and his group were united in the conclusion that the Key Laboratory of Engineering Dielectrics and its Applied Educational Department have passed the acceptance check, and suggested that we should further strengthen talents cultivation and introduction to construct the laboratory into a first rate personnel cultivation base in dielectrics field domestically and internationally.
Car Electric Control and System Integration Construction Project
On August 12, Car Electric Control and System Integration Construction Project passed the acceptance check.
Director of Automobile Electrics Engineering Center, Prof. Wang Xudong delivered the report from six aspects, such as the implementation of the construction plan, funds and financial circumstances and so forth. Expert group inspected the east and west part of the engineering center.
After verification and discussion, the expert group came to a conclusion that the assignment had been accomplished successfully, and fulfilled the demands of the feasibility research report, which led to the acceptance of our Engineering Center.

Entrusted by Science and Technology Ministry, Heilongjiang Science and Technology Department conducted a demonstration about the State Key Laboratory Cultivation Base—Heilongjiang Dielectrics Engineering Key Laboratory of HUST on August 19.
Vice President of HUST, director of the laboratory delivered the work report. After auditing the report, experts contended that the laboratory satisfied the demands of the state, and met the requirements in every aspect. Expert group voted that the State Key Laboratory Cultivation Base Construction Project was reasonable and feasible.
VI. HUST History Museum—A New Educational Base

On September 15, HUST History Museum opened on South Campus, with Secretary of HUST PC, Gao Jun and President Li Dayong attending the unveiling ceremony.
Prepared for a year and a half, designed by the Arts College, History Museum is aimed at demonstrating the development history all through these 60 years by a large amount of pictures and precious materials, which vividly portraits the efforts and achievements of generations of HUST people, and expresses the glorious anticipation and magnificent prospects of all HUST people for their Alma Mater.
VII. Celebrate HUST 60th Anniversary, Sum up Construction Achievements
The Celebration of 60th Anniversary
On September 19, 20,000 people including all staff and students, alumni from home and abroad, leaders at all levels, and guests from all walks of life, solemnly assembled on the West Campus to celebrate our 60th anniversary.
Member of the Standing Committee of Political Bureau of CPC, Li Changchun sent his good wishes and compliments through a congratulation letter. Chairman of Heilongjiang CPPCC, Wang Julu, Deputy Secretary of Heilongjiang PC, Du Yuxin, Vice Governor of Heilongjiang Provincial Government, Cheng Youdong, and many leaders at different levels, guests from all walks of life, famous specialists and scholars attended the celebration.
Secretary of HUST PC, Gao Jun hosted the celebration, and President Li Dayong summed up the development history and pointed out the future development strategy and concepts. Deputy Secretary of Heilongjiang PC, Du Yuxin set a high value on the achievements of HUST through 60 years and the contribution to the modernization and reforms of Heilongjiang Province, on behalf of the Heilongjiang Provincial Government.
On the afternoon of the same day, Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum was held in HUST. Presidents from 20 universities gathered together exchanging ideas on the development and the future of university education.
On the evening of the day, the Evening Party of 60th Anniversary opened, at the end of which Secretary of HUST PC, Gao Jun, and President Li Dayong walked on the stage together, starting a new age for the coming 60 years.
VIII. HUST Science Park Been Recognized as State-level Base for Intern and Innovation, Innovation Center of HUST Science and Technology Park Been Recognized as State-level Incubator
On October 15, Education Ministry and Science and Technology Ministry distributed a joint document, recognizing HUST Science and Technology Park as State-level Base for Intern and Innovation. 66 universities all over the country are among the first who received this honor including HUST, the only one in Heilongjiang Province.
On December 22, Science and Technology Ministry issued a document, recognizing HUST Innovation Center—HUST Science and Technology Business Incubator as State-level Incubator, which serves as a new milestone for the construction of HUST Incubators, and also is a significant mark for the construction of HUST Science and Technology Park.
IX. HUST Won the Nomination for 2010 Excellent Doctorate Thesis
After the evaluation of the State Academic Committee, PhD student supervised by Prof. Li Dayong, Shi Dequan won the nomination for 2010 Excellent Doctorate Thesis, the first time for HUST to achieve this honor, and also the highest award among all the candidates in our province.
Organized by the State Academic Committee and Education Ministry, the selection of Excellent Doctorate Thesis started from 1999, which aimed at cultivating and stimulating PhD students’ innovation and creativity to promote their quality. This nomination will surely enhance the research capacity of our university and push the thesis production to a higher level.
X. Eight Undergraduate Programs Step into First Rate National Professional Characteristics
According to National Education Ministry and Finance Ministry, four undergraduate programs, Information and Computing Science Specialty, Metallic Material Engineering, Control and Instrument Technology, and Computer Science and Technology, have been approved National Professional Characteristics. So far, eight undergraduate programs have been submitted and stepped into first rate National Professional Characteristics, which symbolizes that the discipline construction of HUST has entered a new era.
