On July 29, 2016, the final of the 5th National College Photoelectric Design Competition was held in University of Electronic Science and Technology of China successfully. 3 groups from 5 majors of the School of Applied Sciences, School of Software, and School of Measurement––Control Technology and Communications Engineering of HUST had won the first prize in the provincial competition, and representing HUST they took part in the final held in Chengdu to compete against 271 groups from 81 national colleges and universities including Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, National University of Defense Technology, Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Changchun University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin Engineering University and so forth. Through the fierce competition and with the solid professional skills, proficient practical capabilities and great psychological quality, the contestants of HUST achieved good results, becoming one of the 16 colleges and universities whose all the teams won the prizes for the competition; the 3 teams of HUST ranked the top 12%, 24% and 34% respectively, got two 2nd Prizes and one 3rd Prize, ranking 9th after Beijing Institute of Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Shenzhen University, Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and other universities, and were the only 3 teams from the colleges and universities of Heilongjiang Province winning the prizes.
