At 10:00 a.m. of September 6, a grand commencement ceremony was held for 2016’s HUST freshmen in the gymnasium of West Campus. More than 7,000 HUST’s freshmen, as well as her Party Secretary Zhao Guogang, President Li Dayong, Vice Presidents Cuo Erjun, Yang Chun, Fang Wenbin and Man Chuntao, directors of all departments, deans of all schools, Party secretaries or vice Party secretaries in charge of all school’s student work, members of freshmen military training staff and freshman counselors of all schools, attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was hosted by Vice Presidents Yang Chun. After rituals of hoisting national flags, playing national anthem, hoisting HUST flags and playing HUST anthem, Lu Jiahao, Sun Tao, Xie Ying and Song Hongyan made their own statements in turns on behalf of HUST’s freshmen, internal students, teachers and freshmen’s parents individually.

Then President Li delivered his speech in which, on behalf of HUST, he taught an outstanding lecture on entrance education for all freshmen presented.On the one hand, President Li extended his heartfelt welcome and congratulation to all 7,336 freshmen from 31 provinces, municipalities or autonomous regions of China, as well as his sincere gratitude to their parents for the trust and support they had given to HUST; on the other hand, he also introduced HUST excellent achievements and cultural feature,wishing them to inherit and carry forward this tradition, cherish every single day in HUST to fulfill their school work smoothly, and lead a fruitful college life.

Vice Presidents Yang pointed out in his concluding address that President Li’s entrust and encouragement, as well as the expectations from all HUST teachers and freshmen’s patents should be kept in every freshman’s mind and turned into inexhaustible impetus for themselves to make continuous progress in study, practice,innovation and overall quality enhancement.
