On Sep. 13, “Sino-Japanese Juvenile Science and Technology Communication Program--Heilongjiang Session”, hosted by Heilongjiang Provincial Science and Technology Department and organized by Harbin University of Sciece and Technology, was held in HUST. On the same day, President Li Dayong met Japan Science and Technology Agency Counselor Okimura Kazuki in the major building. Li pointed out the “Sakura Science and Technology Program” was beneficial to the development of Sino-Japanese friendship. Okimura Kazuki was granted “China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award” and “China’s National Government Friendship Award” and met by President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, which testified the support and appreciation of Chinese government. Li Dayong extended his gratitude towards Okimura Kazuki for his effort on Sino-Japan communication. Subsequently, he briefly introduced HUST’s Japanese Sister Schools and specific cooperation. He is expecting that the Program would widen the scope of HUST’s communicating with Japanese universities.

During the session, Okimura Kazuki introduced the background and intention of the program and the components of Japan Science and Technology Agency. He pointed out that “Sakura Science and Technology Program” was initiated in 2014, which was funded by Japan Science and Technology Agency to invite intellectuals below 40 years old or university students to Japan. The Program intends to enhance understanding and cooperation between the two sides. HUST International Cooperation and Communication Department Director Xi Zhaohui delivered a speech on behalf of HUST.

The attendees include National Science and Technology Department Cooperation Bureau Director Jiang Xiaoping and Heilongjiang Provincial Science and Technology Department Foreign Cooperation Branch Vice Director Li Li, the head of enterprises, higher institutions in Heilongjiang Province with cooperation with Japan and some university and middle school students.
